No.1 Watch your speed 速度、
Don’t go over the posted speed limit, even if other drivers are speeding.
When you’re accelerating to merge onto a highway, be careful not to go over the speed limit.
Watch for school and playground zones. Speeding through a school zone or playground is a common reason for drivers to fail their test.
No.2 Keep your distance 距離、
Don’t tailgate – keep a safe distance between your vehicle and the vehicle ahead of you.
Count off two seconds of following distance on most city streets.
Increase it at least three seconds on highways and at least four in poor weather.
No.3 Come to a complete stop 停、
Come to a complete, not roling stop at all stop signs and red lights.
When you stop at intersections and crosswalks, make sure your car is behind the white line.

Scan all intersections, even if you have the right of way. Scan left, right, and ahead.

When you’re turning right, be especially careful to shoulder check for cyclists.

Stay in your lane during the whole turn. Maintain good position in your lane by not turning too wide or cutting corners.

Becoming a safe driver doesn’t happen overnight.
